The WORD-right copywriting process

If you’ve never taken advantage of a copywriting service before, you might wonder how it works. How does a copywriter go about writing for you?

This page explains what will happen when you choose to work with WORD-right’s copywriters.

Remember, WORD-right copywriting is based in Hampshire, but works with companies across the UK and overseas.

Your initial copywriting services enquiry

To make your initial copywriting enquiry, you can phone WORD-right on 023 92 503 742 or send an email.

Before a copywriter can quote for your project, they must understand what you want to achieve and the scale of the project. This involves a telephone conversation, or if you’re in the Hampshire area, a one-to-one meeting can be arranged. This first conversation about your copywriting project is to gather enough information to give you an accurate quote for the project.Thw WORD-right copywriting process - gathering information

Your copywriting quotation

Once WORD-right’s copywriters have the information they need, a formal quote is prepared. Your copywriting quotation is normally based on a ‘per-job’ basis, and the quote outlines exactly what is included in the price and any exclusions.

If you are happy with your copywriting project quote, you will be asked to sign a letter of agreement (the contract for your copywriting services) and pay a deposit. A completion date will be agreed and you should let WORD-right know if you have any specific deadlines to meet.

Taking your copywriting brief

The next stage in the copywriting process is to ‘take the brief’. This is a critical element of the project. Only by taking a comprehensive brief from you will your copywriter be able to write accurately about your company, and deliver the right message to your prospective customers or clients.

When you work with WORD-right’s copywriters, the copywriting brief is taken over the phone. With your permission, the call is recorded. The copywriting brief recording is used only by the WORD-right copywriters and is treated in the strictest confidence. You will be asked in-depth questions about your business, your copywriting project and its objectives.

You can expect your copywriting brief to take between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the size and scope of your project. If several members of your staff are involved in the copywriting or marketing project, more than one briefing call might be needed.

Why do we take your copywriting brief by phone?

Taking your copywriting brief by phone is the most efficient way of gathering the right information. It is quicker than taking a brief in person and makes better use of your time. Because it also saves your copywriter’s time, it helps keep the cost of your project down. Taking the brief is factored into your copywriting services quote.

Recording the call means the copywriter can concentrate on getting the right information from you, without having to worry about taking notes.

Working on your copywriting project

Once the brief has been taken, your copywriter will spend time researching your products or services and your marketplace.

When they have everything they need, the copywriter will start work on your copywriting project.

Once the first draft of the copy is written, it will be sent to you by email for approval. This is a consultative stage in the copywriting process. Because it’s important your copy delivers the right message, you have the opportunity to suggest any amendments you would like made.

Once your copy is agreed, the final version will be sent to you by email, and you will be invoiced for the balance of the payment.
